Prevention, Intervention and Rehabilitation Program Involvement  

  • Behavioral Health Unit- Lynn Police Department, in partnership with the MA Atty. General’s Office, MA Dept. of Public Health, and Eliot Community Human Services. Clinician/case workers working alongside police officers in efforts to help clients with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns.
     

  • All Stars Program- Breed Middle School, in partnership with District Atty. Blodgett, Lynn School Dept. and Bridgewell.  Provides positive role models to teach students to make good choices, build supportive relationships and develop positive future visions.
     

  • Criminal Justice/Mental Health Working Group- hosted by Lynn Police Dept. with Eliot Community Human Services, Lynn Housing Authority, Lynn Shelter Association, and other agencies. Group meets monthly to identify clients in need of services with a focus on jail diversion possibilities.
     

  • Lynn Overdose Prevention Group, hosted by Bridgewell/Project Cope, with Lynn Police Dept., Lynn Community Health Center, Healthy Streets Outreach Program, and other local social service providers. Group meets regularly to develop best practices to combat the rising level of overdoses in our community.
     

  • Lynn Drug Court Working Group- led by the Presiding Justice with representatives of the District Atty., Defense Counsel, Probation, Lynn Police Drug Task Force, and     treatment providers. Collaboration seeking better ways to serve clients of the Drug Court
     

  • Lynn Police Teen Drop-In Center- Program for youth ages 13 -19 invited to the Lynn Tech Field House weekly to interact in a safe environment with friends and Lynn Police Officers through sports programs, arts & crafts classes, and other youth-based activities.
     

  • Safe and Successful Youth Initiative- grant funded program of Lynn Police Dept. partnered with ROCA, an outcomes-driven organization with services aimed at young men 17- 24 years of age. Building a program to disrupt the cycle of incarceration and poverty by helping to transform the lives of individuals in this group.
     

  • Summer Jobs for Lynn Youth- grant funded program. Lynn Police Dept. provides funding for a variety of summer jobs throughout the community for Lynn youth.    
     

  • Shannon Grant Funds Community Programs- Street outreach services and case management for at-risk individuals; programs for families and children in need of services; and funding for additional police anti-gang patrols.
     

  • School Resources Officers (SRO) Program- partnership with Lynn School Dept.. SROs are in four Lynn Middle Schools.  Many of the programs initiated through District Atty. Blodgett's office are routinely used as part of the SRO curriculum in our schools.
     

  • Community Liaison Team (CLT) Program has four patrol officers now assigned throughout the city to work with businesses and neighborhood groups to identify solutions to crime and quality of life problems in all areas of our community.
